This work was inspired by a veiled woman. She had to hide her hair, her symbolic strength but the light lit up her face, and she began to look mysteriously like the Girl with the Pearl of Vermeer (1665) Deeply preoccupied with timelessness, Helene de Maleissye's works suggest eternal and spiritual atmospheres. These are essentially portraits from contemporary society. The recourse to monochromy, the coldness of the touch and the composition characterize a singular style and engaged in representation, and always bathe in a shades of blue.
