Women have always struggled in America and and black and brown women have had an even greater struggle. With knowing this, what has changed? The whole world seemed to know about pay gaps and inequality of educational and career acknowledgement yet women still say “yes”. Yes to more work, yes to losing ownership of their titles and now, once again, our bodies. This piece represents the power behind the word “NO”.

I am a self-taught abstract artist originally from Boston by way of Chicago and Atlanta. My educational background is in criminal and social justice, so many of my internal conversations are about humanity-all the good and bad that it entails. As an artist, my passion has been to paint the everyday conflict between those two powers and show that sometimes there’s beauty in the in-between. I enjoy using acrylic paint, spray paint, pastels, charcoal, and other mediums to provide rich texture and colors on both canvas and wooden panels. My goal is to make art that invokes emotion in its purest form while creating dialogue.
