I began my formal art training in the 1970s at TAFE and Colleges of Advanced Education in Sydney, Australia, where I was deeply influenced by Abstract Expressionism, sculptural formalism, and performance-installation art. During this period, I worked primarily as a sculptor and performance artist, with a notable highlight being two performances at the Cite Internationale des Arts in Paris in 1984, supported by an AGNSW Moya Dyring Studio residency and an Australia Council travel grant. In the 1990s, my focus shifted towards painting, and I undertook a Master of Arts at The University of Western Sydney from 1999 to 2001. Over the past 20 years, my studio research has evolved to explore the concept of "totalized time" and the stratification of memory. These themes allow my work to integrate historical references with philosophical and ideological ideas, creating layered and thought-provoking narratives within my paintings.
