ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Colour and gesture, motion and static; polarities used in my painting Nothing is Straight. Inspired by the infinite possibilities of what is possible with paint. The process of painting brings great joy to me and this work painted with acrylic paint on canvas work explores compositional elements of colour and space, combining different combinations of forms to create a story of shapes that invite the viewer to engage; to stimulate thought, and offer pathways to the imagination. I love to experiment in my process of painting, exploring opposites like the spontaneous mark alongside the deliberate, dark colours contrasted with fluorescent pigments, masses of colour juxtaposed with fine ribbons or scribbles of paint. Compositions that offer no clear connection to reality or meaning, rather present explorations of painting compositions that may stimulate memories and create pathways to the imagination.
