About The Artwork
This image is made up of three layers: a map from 1630 by Henricus Hondius, a classroom template of the countries of the world in 2017, and splattered paint. One of the maps I altered in pixlr express, and one of the maps I altered in photoshop. I then sandwiched them together digitally with the splattered paint image to get the overall composition. The image is gridded, the canvas built to size, and the composition is meticulously painted by hand.
