The inspiration came from two nude drawings hanging at my home when I was a model - these two nudes are me, as a model, and I drew inspiration from these two works to create my own painting, filled with colour and delicacy... The painting has a white frame around.

Australia
Véronique Guillem was born in Oran, French Algeria, in 1961, and moved one year after to Perpignan, in the south of France. In the 1980s, she spent over two years in London before relocating to Sydney in 2011, where she became an Australian citizen. Prior to her move, she resided in Collioure, a picturesque Mediterranean harbour village in the south of France, known for its association with the Fauvist movement and its attraction to renowned artists such as Matisse, Derain, Dufy, and Picasso. Having had a passion for drawing since childhood, Véronique began painting upon her arrival in Australia, primarily using acrylic on canvas. Her artistic influences include Pop Art and Fauvism, drawing inspiration from their bold use of colour and expressive style. In 2020, following a surgery in both hands and during the Covid-19 lockdown, Véronique embarked on a journey of self-discovery as a self-taught artist, producing a series of vibrant, colourful nudes and portraits. Despite facing challenges, her love and passion for painting remain unwavering, driving her artistic expression forward.
