About The Artwork
“OCEAN RACE” is a large 18” x 24” Oil Painting on stiff 1/8" tempered fiberboard "Masonite". The stiffness of the fiberboard supports the heavy application of paint for an impasto, energetic and emotional application. Bold brush strokes communicate the dynamic feeling of the pressure of the sea and wind. The sails are stretched tight and the spinnaker fully inflated. The implied tension of the race between the two boats is communicated by the bold strokes of the brush. The stormy character of the weather is communicated by the directional brush strokes at a variety of angles.
