About The Artwork
Oceana is one of those paintings that emerges as so much more than what I was hoping for. I choose colors and dove in. The textures found their integration by themselves. While I was painting, I felt like I just found myself in the middle of the ocean, in it - and - looking down on it from a great height. The title came to me immediately. I had very few finishing touches to apply. This is one of my favorite pieces. My paintings are abstract expressionist works in acrylic that dig deep into emotion, mood, depth of feeling, spirit, and the transformative power of magical thinking. Using meaningful color, distinctive paint textures, spontaneous abstract composition - with my own painting technique - I strive to create dreamy snapshots of metaphorical moments in the natural, nonphysical, mystical and spiritual worlds. I love expressing spacious concepts to gentle ideas visually in a small space. I create what I call “Visual Poetry.”

My name is Jason Taylor Morgan. A self-taught artist, I began painting at 66 years old, in 2021. I was born in Boston, MA, and now live in Sonoma County, Northern California. My paintings are abstract works in acrylic that suggest the transformative power of magical thinking.
