DL’s parent were both artists. Her father Bohemian was a commercial artist and accomplished painter. Her mother, French, was a portrait artist. DL has been around the creative process since she could walk. Her formal education included architectural, interior and fashion design. She has continued her experiences with art residencies in Italy and Mexico. Experimentation drives much of DL’s work. Her work is always intuitive, emotionally driven with little to no planning. A love of nature’s patterns, concerns for our environment, music and the physical beauty outside her studios in Oregon and Florida have tremendous impact on her work. Her work is segmented by inspiration. In her series Nature's Patterns, it's the sensual beauty of the simple folds in flower pedals; the graphic complexity of designs on a butterfly's wing or the power of color that inspires her. In Opposing Forces she has created a collision between nature's raw beauty and man's destructive impact on our planet. Heat, oil and paint interact to create a chemical reaction on the canvas. Music inspires the series Rhythm and Blues. There is a movement to these paintings that is definitely influenced by the genre of music played. DL's Landscapes are influenced by her surroundings. Her landscapes look very different as she moves back and forth between Oregon and Florida. DL’s work is collected across the US, Europe and Asia.
