Saskia Huetink, painter, born in Breukelen Holland, grew up in an artistic environment. Her mother named her after Rembrandt’s wife Saskia van Uilenburg. Her father, being an officer in the Dutch army, was a passionate art collector. Saskia descends from a lineage of art painters and sculptors. Her principle theme is the woman as a virgin, mother, mistress or guardian of the “beaux arts”. Her powerful use of colours and her language of forms give her work a certain authenticity, an emotional load. Her strongly developed inner life is often projected in her work. Looking at her work you get to know her better, because of the sometimes autobiographic side of the paintings. A revealing saying of her says: "I can only paint in absolute rest and solitude. Just at that moment I get submerged in my subconsciousness resulting in the strongest work being revealed." Her Japanese paintings are an excellent example of her tremendous use of colours. Here colours are more than just colours, they show the ultimate psyche of the woman beneath the kimono. An Amsterdam art collector described it as follows: “Saskia imagines the temptation. The use of colour in her Japanese work is almost religious. Clothing looks as being sculpted, faces become masks, therefor the paintings become monumental.” In every painting the spectator can see influences of Chagall, Klimt or Munch. Saskia Huetink has exhibitions in the Netherlands and abroad. Her paintings have been sold in private collections and banks in The Netherlands, France, Italy, the United States and New Zealand.
