About The Artwork

"Odysseus," a captivating artwork by esteemed Ukrainian artist Alexander Levich, narrates the story of a young man, bold and fearless, embarking on a journey to explore hidden underwater worlds. With vibrant strokes of oil on canvas, Levich portrays the central figure of the artwork—a fit, well-built man standing on a sun-kissed beach, back turned to the viewer, deeply engrossed in contemplating the vast sea before him. Clues of his passion lie in the diving equipment carefully placed nearby, indicating his love for scuba diving and his unyielding curiosity for the ocean's mysteries. The artist's masterful use of realism captures the essence of the human body, showcasing Levich's exceptional skill in bringing life to the canvas. Through seemingly effortless brushwork, the young man's muscular physique takes form, bathed in the sunlight that cascades from a brilliantly shining sun. The simplicity of the beach, sea, and sky serves to accentuate the main focus—the diver—and transports viewers into an idyllic seaside setting, evoking feelings of vigor and an easy-going vacation mood. For art collectors and enthusiasts, "Odysseus" embodies the allure of scuba diving, resonating with those who share the passion for underwater exploration. The artwork beckons viewers to immerse themselves in the alternative magical world of the ocean depths, a realm of fascination and wonder. Its expressive portrayal of the diver's passion serves as a captivating reminder of the limitless possibilities that the marine realm holds. With "Odysseus," Alexander Levich continues to demonstrate his prowess in capturing the essence of the human form, transforming loose brushstrokes into a stunningly realistic depiction of a person. This artwork stands as a testament to the artist's skill and creativity, offering a captivating addition to any art collection, beckoning art enthusiasts and collectors alike to embark on their own artistic journey.

What is the most important thing in life? It's not the external surroundings but our inner world. Painting serves as the key that unlocks this realm. By following this path, one learns not just to look, but to truly SEE. Through my art, I delve into profound content. Painting becomes a medium of communication, a canvas for thoughts. The questions are always deeper than the answers, and the answers are discoveries we make within ourselves. My paintings serve as guides, leading you along the pathways of your own thoughts. I aim to offer you the joy of connecting with your inner world, the luxury of harmony and solitude in communication with yourself. I was born in 1963 in Kyiv, Ukraine, and in 1987, I graduated from the painting faculty of the Kyiv Art Academy, under the guidance of Professor A.M. Lopukhov. Since 1990, I have been a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine. As a professional artist with over 30 years of experience, my artistic journey can be divided into two main periods. The first period, which spanned over 20 years after my graduation, can be described as "Metarealism." The second period, which I refer to as my "return to realism," began around 2010, you may explore my artworks from both periods showcased here. If you would like to delve deeper into my portfolio, view additional paintings beyond those displayed on this website, or if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me directly via email at a.levich@protonmail.com. You are also warmly welcome to visit my studio in Kyiv. Thank you sincerely for your interest.
