Om Shanti Shanti Floorplan Series #5 In the 'Floor Plan' series, I was initially inspired by the work of Hans Hoffman and Sean Scully, I felt these abstract expressionists, and many others, have a way of painting emotion and placing it into a logical format. Kandinsky's understanding of color and it's relationship to our physical and spiritual body is the second theme running throughout the series. Thirdly the square format in these artworks is relative to the idea of structure, how we live in 'structures' during our life and, the effects and memories this created for me. A sense of deconstruction was the initial impact meditation had on me as a teenager. Surrounded by friendly open people I began to experience a new kind of intimacy with myself, an unburdening, a lifting from an idea... Silence and stillness were ubiquitous, an ancient land hence embracing it was not the reflection of a life not lived, but a springboard to the possibilities that could offer a young girl at the beginning of her life.
