ABOUT THE ARTWORK

"On Duty" by Alexander Levich is an artistic expression of duty entwined with downtime. The painting shows two men, ostensibly lifeguards, in a candid moment of relaxation. Levich's painting technique achieves a remarkable realism, with the play of sunlight on skin and sand depicted with a tactile precision. Yet, there is an abstract quality to the artwork; the brushstrokes suggest movement—the rustling of wind, the ripple of water—while creating an atmosphere that transcends the scene itself. Levich engages the viewer with a composition that balances the detail of the figures against the expansive openness of the sea and sky. This artwork is not just a visual encounter but a narrative journey, encouraging the viewer to contemplate the ebb and flow of life's responsibilities against the canvas of nature’s beauty.

What is the most important thing in life? It's not the external surroundings but our inner world. Painting serves as the key that unlocks this realm. By following this path, one learns not just to look, but to truly SEE. Through my art, I delve into profound content. Painting becomes a medium of communication, a canvas for thoughts. The questions are always deeper than the answers, and the answers are discoveries we make within ourselves. My paintings serve as guides, leading you along the pathways of your own thoughts. I aim to offer you the joy of connecting with your inner world, the luxury of harmony and solitude in communication with yourself. I was born in 1963 in Kyiv, Ukraine, and in 1987, I graduated from the painting faculty of the Kyiv Art Academy, under the guidance of Professor A.M. Lopukhov. Since 1990, I have been a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine. As a professional artist with over 30 years of experience, my artistic journey can be divided into two main periods. The first period, which spanned over 20 years after my graduation, can be described as "Metarealism." The second period, which I refer to as my "return to realism," began around 2010, you may explore my artworks from both periods showcased here. If you would like to delve deeper into my portfolio, view additional paintings beyond those displayed on this website, or if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me directly via email at .
