About The Artwork
In Organico I have brought strong graphic elements into a very painterly work, lots and lots of layers and texture. I referenced images of potato plants, but after days of painting these I eventually did away with them. I simply painted over them bringing the painting back to being a painting! What took days of painting (fussing and overthinking) took my one hour to make right. This painting references migrant workers and the use of colour is a celebration of blended cultures both here in New Zealand and around the world.

Born in Auckland, New Zealand in 1971. I am a full time figurative artist.Interested in the visual arts and music from a young age. Grew up in the lush rural environment of Northland, NZ. International travels 1997 for 3 years taking in all major galleries. Extensive exhibiting of figurative paintings upon return from travels. Full time painting from 2005. Selling work within NZ as well as to international collectors including the John Deere Art collection in Moline, Illinois, USA. Inspired hugely by my own country, people and culture as well as by the modernist movements of early 20th century Europe.
