Thunderstorms in Kajiado County, Kenya. Relatively rare in this dry area but spectacular when they occur. For me Kajiado also is the place where you find the gnarled and twisted small Thorn Trees which are almost like shrubs, Commiphora campestris, whose Maasai name is Otitmaei.

“What do you see when you look? There is usually more than you think. Look closely and marvel at all there is…” I came to Africa at age one and grew up in Kenya, where I am still based. Due to my father’s love for Safaris, our family was lucky to be regularly out in the bush. The love for Nature and Africa has stayed with me since these early years as my main source of inspiration, and with it the hope to preserve our wildlife by sharing it through my artwork. Even though I initially trained in Germany as a Silversmith with an emphasis on tableware and vessels, a chance meeting brought me back to painting a few years ago. I try and combine silver-smithing with the use of acrylics and various other materials within my paintings, to create my distinctive style of flowing, bold colours and textures combined with graphic elements. My paintings have found homes not only in Kenya but also Mauritius, Germany, New Zealand, U.S.A. and Finland.
