Iva Rizzi

Iva Rizzi, born in Argentina with Italian roots, is a self-taught artist who enjoys experimenting with and studying different branches of art and design. Her beginnings in the world of visual arts were dedicated to watercolours with cold colours dominating her work. Later she opted to draw with white pencil on non-white paper, playing with defined shapes and objects, moving closer to surrealism. Years later, after her arrival in Europe she began a new phase in which she used painting as a means of expressing her life and experiences in the old continent. Captivated by the colours, aromas and flavours of Spain this period was characterised by multi-coloured pastels and a definite departure from the absence of movement and the emotional avoidance characteristic of her abstract art. Since her arrival in London in 2009 her painting has become an exact reflection of her life in a new city, interspersing warm acrylics with cold pastels. In October 2012 she launched her website to display her work of recent years, called "˜Emotional Motion'. In March 2013 she exhibited her pastels in a collective exhibition in Showcase Cities in Shoreditch, London. She describes "˜Emotional Motion' as colourful poetry on canvas, a journey through memories, places, experiences and images from her life in Europe. Upon arriving from a trip to Portugal, stimulated by nostalgia and castles, the artist, who this time offers a self-portrait, lets us into her world and as she herself says "˜behind each work there is a story to tell'. In July 2013 was exhibiting her work at The Brick Lane Gallery-The Annexe. In October 2013 was exhibiting at MOYA, Palais Schönborn Vienna.
