ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This was the view out the window into the back yard of the house I was living in at the time. The owner had spent years cultivating her back yard into an oasis of trees and flowers everywhere. They formed a canopy that blocked out all surrounding houses so that all you saw was nature. A creek ran behind the house so there was always wildlife in the yard. I tried to capture the feeling I would get from standing in the center of it all and getting the 360 degree view. Dozens of shades of green plus all the other colors of flowers and exotic plants.

I've been oil painting and making fine art photographs for most of my life. My paintings are a combination of reality and fantasy from the things I see every day that inspire me and give me a positive feeling. I believe that each painting should tell a story with the elements and brush strokes. They should have several levels of meaning that the owner can discover over their years of studying it on the wall. It should become like a personal friend. My photographs are different but similar statements. Most are Black and White shot on film and printed by me in the darkroom. The feeling a Black and White photograph gives is one of introspection and meditation. When you own an original photograph and have it on the wall it becomes a part of you. My photography subjects are things that have meaning to me.
