Out of the Blue Painting

Kathleen is a self-taught, intuitive artist and healer. She was born in Manila, Philippines and immigrated to the US in the early 90’s. She studied Asian Medicine, Martial Arts and Meditation for over 25 years before making the transition into full-time visual artist. Much like the healing practices she is drawn to, her pieces emerge from finding harmony and balance within the polarities of Yin and Yang. ARTIST STATEMENT I am a 4th generation traditional healer and intuitive which strongly informs my art. I've long held a love for art and energetics and I find that painting is where these two passions intersect. My paintings are abstract representations of my work as a healer. Self-cultivation and self-exploration are major catalysts for my artistic practice. As a synesthete, my intuitive choices in color are intended to convey the full spectrum of feelings, tastes, and sounds that surface in a healing session. My obsession with colors and texture is my humble attempt to translate the inner energies, visions, and sounds I experience when I am “in the flow”. Painting is a meditative and transformative process that helps me bring the unseen into the seen material world. I believe that paintings are talismans that exude specific energies and intentions for the places they inhabit. It's my hope that my collectors be drawn to pieces that resonate with their own spirit and energy. ART PROCESS Layers are integral to my art process. I intuitively draw forms, scribble channeled messages and blessings on the canvas before painting. Movements, colors and marks are channeled in present time. Much like the healing process, ego has no place. I am a channel of energetic flow and I allow the painting to show me what It wants to become. Beauty emerges when energies settle and become balanced. My colors and style evolve as my inner and collective landscapes evolve.
