This work is on exhibition until January 1, 2025. It depends on your point of view. Who in the painting are the outcasts? There are tall, thin, large headed figures in the foreground. And there are small, simple figures in the background. Opposites, most true! Is it the outcasts who meekly stand back as the socially sanctioned ones enjoy the world? Or is it the outcasts, being pushed out, who gladly flee, leaving those that love convention far behind? Which ones are the Outcasts? What do you think? _____________________________________________ "Outcasts’ is about contrasts. In this piece, I painted the canvas in a traditional way, but I accented specific areas with a nontraditional technique. I masked off these areas and applied a thick impasto, smoothed out with a large palette knife. These areas dried for many days. During the drying time, I took a block of linoleum and hand carved an organic design. I then began to print, not with ink, but with a thinned oil paint, over the dried impasto areas. After it dried, I then super imprinted the areas a second time. This change in techniques helped me to reinforce the idea of contrasts for ‘Outcasts’.< Hanging wire attached. Beautifully finished with painted sides - no need to frame. Ready to and Enjoy!

Cheryl Eggleston's work is characterized by angles, lines, repeating patterns, and some circles for relief, reflecting her affinity for boundaries and structure. As an introvert, she finds solace in these elements, which provide comfort and familiarity amidst the chaos of the world. Her compositions are a means to work through her thoughts and ideas, inviting viewers to examine their own reflections. Some pieces offer a lighthearted, playful perspective on life from an introvert’s viewpoint. Eggleston begins by sketching patterns on paper, dividing space to focus her thoughts and allowing ideas to emerge. These sketches are then transferred to canvas, where she paints with alkyd and acrylics. Her process involves finding balance and harmony through smooth color fields, edgy transitions, and the interplay of angles and lines, with circles offering a sense of relief.
