The "Oval" series showcases organic oval shapes. The word "oval" is derived from the Latin word "ovum," meaning egg. This shape symbolizes a fragile yet protective shell, a conserver. It is an exterior, a covering, and a unifier. It is a spheroidal shape with elliptical contours and no angles. In geometry, it refers to a stadium or a flattened circle; in science, to orbits, the trajectories of planets or satellites; and in biology, it refers to ovaries, reproduction, fertilization, etc. Surrounding the oval are threads that inject movement and connections. These threads can be seen as protective or insulating. They add spontaneity and texture to the painting, creating a game of showing and hiding. This forms an envelope that partially conceals and reveals the elements inside, transforming them into a new vision and contributing to the overall volume of the work. The series places this dynamic volume in an empty space, representing an uncertain environment. Only the horizon line helps to find stability or a certain sedentariness to the scene. The "Oval" series aims to explore the essence of life and living energy.

Artistic Statement Seylan Kandak explores the relationship between memory, both personal and collective, and contemporary art as a tool for sharing personal experiences. Kandak seeks to understand how art can serve as a tool for the transmission of memories, whether they are personal or shared by a community. She explores also the blurred line between our personal memories and those that are told or taught to us. She works with various media, including photography, painting, drawing, sculpture, and mosaic, to express these ideas and propose fragmented presentations and installations for their potential to foster dialogue with the public. She also invites the public to participate in her installations, encouraging them to create pieces that contribute to a common memory and a shared archive.
