Oysters 5 Painting

This work evokes the idea of large oysters with a bright palette of sea foam green and iridescent light blue juxtaposed between dark teal and denim blue. A background of titanium white exposes the nuance of the hand mixed color palette. Powdered pigment, texture and water were used to create depth and a sense of light and dimension. There are touches of iridescent colors, giving the impression of pearl, that sit atop matte acrylics offering interest without being overwhelming. This work is part of a series which embodies the coastal areas from which I draw my inspiration. It is finished with gloss, brightening all the colors to a watery and beautiful finish. This series evokes a sense of joy and calm.
