1930, Chicago, Ill. USA. Moved to New York city in1936. Always interested in art, very early in life spending much time in major museums and galleries. Studied art in high school, college, and became a Professor of Art at a Sate University. As a working artist all my life, ay art has evolved over many years and has expanded in various directions. My appetite transcends category, medium subject matter and style, from realism to abstraction. It is my observation that life is an emotional connection between past and present. My work is my artistic statement to the world.Working in Japan I created this body of work a few year ago called 'DRAWING CONSTRUCTIONS'.Using the ancient Japanese process of paper making I created these works of art by using their unique process of making paper. I manipulated wet pulp into abstract, sculpture and dimensional forms by tearing, ripping and gouging the saturated paper medium, leaving large voids to the paper, some dye is added to the pulp. When dry I drew onto the surface of the paper with charcoal, pencil, ink of pastel using strong gestured strokes to the various shapes and grooves on the paper. To complete I add found objects to the art such as rope, wood, pins and metal to complete.
