About the Artist

Nadia Bedei

Argentina

My practice investigates the relationship between people and place. Working primarily in soft pastel, I develop series inspired by travel, direct observation of natural environments, and research into the cultural contexts of different territories. My interest lies not in the literal appearance of a landscape, but in its capacity to retain traces of natural processes, human presence, and cultural narratives.
Each project begins with sustained immersion in a specific location. During fieldwork, I gather visual material and study local ecology, architecture, traditions, and everyday life. These observations form the foundation of a visual inquiry. Gradually, direct observations merge with symbolic imagery, moving beyond documentary representation to engage with deeper questions of memory, belonging, and the ongoing dialogue between humans and their surroundings.
I approach landscape as a living system in which natural processes, cultural memory, and human experience continuously intersect. Through my work, I seek to convey a territory’s distinctive character, atmosphere, and internal energy, while exploring how places shape our perception and continue to resonate in memory long after the journey has ended
