ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Padmasana is titled after the yoga lotus position, one which inspires grounding and relaxation. I began this painting by creating a swift meditative gesture while standing, with the paper on the ground. Gradually I built up very thin layers of ink , so that the original layers could be seen faintly. The interlocking curves were once separate gestures, that morphed into another shape, just as we ourselves shift in our own consciousness.
