"Palengke" is an market scene Henri Lamy painted while walking on the streets of Cebu, Philippines' second largest city. It was showcased as the main artwork for Henri's solo show in Qube Gallery (Cebu) in 2017. "Palengke" represents Henri's love for the people he meets during his travels. He painted this scene from a photography he took with his phone, capturing moments from everyday life and painting them on Filipino fabric. He fell in love with the Philippines in 2012, a country that he now calls his second home.

France
Henri Lamy is a French figurative painter, born in 1985. Seduced by the immediacy and spontaneity of acrylic paint, the quality of his work is enhanced by the lively colors and his expressive compositions, as well as the use of palette knife. Initiated at a very young age by his father, Henri is an admirer of Pollock and "drip painting". His painting appears to be more abstract at close range but becomes more figurative from a distance. Henri gets his inspiration from his travels and paints the people he meet. In 2015, together with his wife and art director Maïa d'Aboville, they create Taverne Gutenberg, an art residency and gallery in the city-center of Lyon, France. It has exhibited over 500 artists and welcomed more than 50,000 visitors since its creation. In 2017, Henri and Maïa create the Philippine extension of Taverne Gutenberg in Manila.
