Palos Verdes Bluff, November 2020 Painting

In November 2020 of the pandemic, plein air painting was one of the few outdoor activities allowed to us where we could socially distance and still live a little. I am fortunate to live in mild weather and near the beautiful ocean views of Palos Verdes, California. This painting was part of an outing where I introduced my niece to plein air painting for the first time. It was a clear and warm November day where we both painted looking into the clear water of the ocean from an overlook near Malaga Cove. At the time, I was using the extinct pigment Manganese Blue, as well as Flake White and other pigments used in the historical palettes of the first plein air painters of the 19th century
