Beth Menchaca is a self-taught abstract artist with 30+ years of experience. Her work is inspired by her life in Georgia and her love for the great outdoors. She discovered her passion for painting as a child thanks to her art teachers, who saw her potential and introduced her to various art forms. Using her primary art education, Beth taught herself to paint through trial and error, dedication and perseverance. Early on, she focused on selling folk art inspired furniture, mobiles and paintings. That experience pushed her to explore new techniques, which helped her land contracts with designers to paint murals, faux finishes and distressed furniture. Even though she had success in early ventures, she felt that it would be impossible to make a living without a formal art education, so she put down her smock and started a nursing career. In 2019, she was diagnosed with a brain tumor and had to have immediate surgery. This traumatic event reminded her life is short and that she should be living her most authentic life. With encouragement from her family and friends, Beth has returned to creating art full-time. She now paints every day and continues to challenge herself to step out of her comfort zone, embracing her artwork and herself.
