About The Artwork
Part of a series of still life paintings featuring influential books and/or recorded music present in my collection. In this piece, the cassette is a UK import, The Smiths' 'Hatful of Hollow' (1984), as shown in the detail pic. The books include a couple of novels and two short story collections from the prime era of hard science fiction, and the seminal cyberpunk collection, Mirrorshades (1986), which helped rekindle my waning love for the genre around the time it came out. This oil painting is on an Ampersand panel. It includes a substantial silver frame, as shown in the extra pic.
