Patent Pending No.5 acrylic, decollage and transfers on wood, 29x29 cm Sarcastically named, the Patent Pending series is a collection of small paintings on wood, employing a consistent “assembly line” style production process. Sometimes painted in tandem, each of these pieces captures a uniquely individual mood or subject, while they also work well in groups. The Patent Pending paintings are a signature style of collage painting, incorporating flat graphic colors, decollage and transfers. Painted on thick hardwood board and immaculately finished, these paintings are chic, affordable and add character to any room. This series was introduced at Scout Gallery and also shown at my “High Fleaux” exhibition at Gallery 2622 in 2019. The series is open - similar works may become available at a later date. Stay tuned. Note: These paintings are on 1-inch oak boards, with 1-inch risers built onto the back. The risers lift the paintings off the wall, giving the illusion that the art is floating. Risers can be easily removed for the purpose of framing. All paintings are ready to hang.

Jim Ford (b.1981) is an interdisciplinary artist and type designer with studios based in Milwaukee. Ford works primarily as a painter and sculptor, using acrylic mixed media, collage ephemera, printed fabrics and household materials for his signature collage paintings. His works are loosely animated, intuitive yet sophisticated; sometimes appearing mechanized in their moiré of color, texture and pattern. Symbolically abstract and subliminally coded, Ford’s themes tend to quips, commentary, inside jokes, and also theory, teachings and musings - reflecting the artist’s beliefs, passions and personal studies. Although many of his artworks are individual and unrelated, Ford works in various series to explore a particular theme or method, thinking laterally. More recently, his work has extended to synthetic mixed media sculptures employing organic patterns and elements of sacred geometry, which he refers to as ‘thought forms’ and ‘transdimensional recordings.’ Aside from his art practice, Jim Ford is an award-winning typeface designer with several original designs including Posterama, Masqualero and Hideout. In his tenure at Monotype and Ascender, he created bespoke typefaces for international brands, publications, devices and video games. Ford is perhaps best known for his keen drawing abilities and storied typefaces.
