ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Penguin Books are iconic and I have wanted to paint them for years. This piece is painted on very textured canvas. I never plan my works. I just feel like creating so I do and usually at some point I think....yep that's done. Photos are taken before it is varnished. The Penguin Publishing Group is one of the leading trade book publishers in the United States, comprised of imprints with a long and rich history dating back to the nineteenth century. Penguin Books was originally founded in the UK in 1935 by Allen Lane, who envisioned a collection of quality, attractive books affordable enough to be “bought as easily and casually as a packet of cigarettes.” A United States office opened in 1939, called Penguin Books Ltd. The group merged with Putnam Berkley to become Penguin Putnam, Inc. in 1996, Penguin Group (USA) in 2003, and Penguin Publishing Group in 2014. Today, Penguin Publishing Group is the largest division of Penguin Random House, Inc.

The Early Years: Exploring Boundaries Leah's artistic journey began with a fervent curiosity and a desire to push creative boundaries. In her early years, she experimented with various mediums, techniques, and styles, always seeking new ways to express her vision. Her work during this period was characterized by bold colors, dynamic compositions, and a strong emotional presence. Each piece was a reflection of her inner world and her growing awareness of the interconnectedness of all life. A Turning Point: Embracing Sustainability As Leah's career progressed, she became increasingly aware of the environmental impact of traditional art materials and practices. This realization marked a turning point in her artistic evolution. Driven by a desire to create art that not only inspired but also contributed positively to the world, Leah began to explore sustainable art practices. She started using eco-friendly materials, repurposing existing resources, and minimizing waste in her creative process. This commitment to sustainability extended beyond her art. Her efforts have been instrumental in fostering a movement towards sustainable art, inspiring many to follow her lead. The Emergence of Dopamine Art In recent years, Leah has delved into the world of dopamine art—a genre focused on creating pieces that evoke positive emotions and enhance mental well-being. This new direction in her work is a natural extension of her lifelong dedication to humanity and the planet. By combining vibrant colors, uplifting themes, and innovative techniques, Leah's dopamine art aims to elevate mood and bring joy to those who experience it. Repurposed Fabric: A Canvas for Change One of the most distinctive aspects of Leah's current work is her use of repurposed fabric.
