Giorgio Basfi, born in 1980, lives and works in Tradate (VA), Italy.
As a self-taught artist, he began exhibiting his works in 2003, participating in numerous collective and solo exhibitions both in Italy and abroad. He presented his series of abstract paintings, which are the result of research cycles or, as suggested by his friend and curator Gianluca Belli, Tentativi di Sopravvivenza (Survival Attempts)...
Among the most relevant collective exhibitions: the group shows since 2008 with the Giudecca795 Gallery in Venice, the group shows with the Licobra group, which he founded and curated, at Palazzo Branda in Castiglione Olona (VA) in 2012/2013, a collective exhibition in 2015 at the Gaudi Gallery in Madrid (ES), the collective "Art Sketches for an Allegorical Float" in 2016, and Mumart 2017 at the Museo Michetti - Francavilla al Mare (CH), all curated by Tonino Bosica.
Solo Exhibitions
His solo exhibitions include: the first, titled "Experience," at Villa Truffini in Tradate in 2007; the exhibition "Stop That Train," a graphic video installation project, in 2008, at the Locomotiva area of the Gavirate north station (VA); the exhibition "Tentativi di sopravvivenza" (Survival Attempts) in 2009, curated by his friend Gianluca Belli at Spazio Zero in Gallarate (VA); the exhibition "Egosistemi" (Egosystems), hosted by his friend Francesco Faravelli's FG Interior Design studio in Varese in 2010 and presented by Francesca Antognazza; the exhibition "Tracce" (Traces) in 2012 at "La cascina dell’arte" in Busto Arsizio (VA), hosted by his colleague Ezio Foglia; the exhibition "Tracieloeterra" (Trace-Heaven-and-Earth) in 2013 at the Castle of Monteruzzo, with a critical text by Dr. Rolando Bellini, curator of the Castiglione museum complex; the exhibition "L'Uomo e il Colore" (Man and Color) in 2016, curated by Cristiano Plicato, curator of the Museo Scalvini, at Villa Tittoni Traversi in Desio (MB); a solo exhibition at the Monastery of Cairate (VA) presenting the “Egosistemi” and “Liberamente” collections in November 2024.
