Petals Painting

The background colour celebrates an Old Holland warm gris, where in parts pink comes through and in other areas light browns appear. This murky grey/ochre is punctuated by some areas of burnt sienna. The shapes that sit above the background are predominantly ellipses. Some of which are more rounded like eggs and some are elongated and with points, appearing more like U.F.O's out of Science Fiction. The yellow, blue, pink and orange shapes could be read as cells. There are four hard straight lines that lead towards no particular perspective point. The most striking structure in the composition is a black and grey squiggle. It is warped and faded in areas and nearly vanishes at the top. This was intended as a sort of representation of digital interference. Petals began with thinking about invisible threats, nuclear war, a technological dystopia, chemicals and the atmosphere of other worlds.
