This piece is part of a larger series of oils on canvas, entitled "We Are Backstage". It addresses female identity and self-ownership. How much do we really "own" of our physical and mental bodies? Are we in command or are we the impresarios of ideas and values belonging to a cosmic system, which control us? This piece is entitled with names of different women from different cultures. Phaedra, Marta and Emma share the identical doubt and constant fluidity between personal and public identity, between being in power and existing in the perceptions of others.
