Art Description

Painting: Oil on Canvas.

Conceived and completed by the summer of 2014 at the Hanurit Studio, Jerusalem.

This painting is on a gallery wrapped canvas with finished black edges. It comes ready to hang. Signed on the front and back.

"Phantasma" is the piece that is inspired by the inner sense of calm.

"In a holographic Universe there are no limits to the extent to which we can alter the fabric of reality. What we perceive as reality is only a canvas waiting for us to draw upon it any picture we want. Anything is possible, from bending spoons with the power of our mind to the Phantasmagorical events experienced by Castaneda during his experiences with the Yaqui Bruno don Juan, for magic our birthright, no more no less miraculous than our ability to compute the reality we want where we are in our dreams." (Isabella Hobday)

I started this piece with no preconceived notion of where the process will go. There is something magical about the painting being spontaneous, as only have a certain amount of control over what is out - the rest is serendipity. Mostly, the paint is thin and transparent, almost like a watercolor, but there are some elements, where the impasto technique is applied, to provide texture and to enhance expressiveness. As well, a small amount of white acrylic, as a texture-base. This is a multilayered work. I build up layers using a variety of techniques with large windows in each, so that the final images are a kind of collage of textures.
