Susan Havens-Morris is a fine artist who often works on full-scale projects, doing interiors and design and fine art pieces. After a successful career spanning over 27 years as an advertising art director and raising two children, She is also a self-proclaimed "pug mom." Havens-Morris relocated to New Orleans with her family in 2012. Drawn to the city's rich history, vibrant culture, and warm climate, she sought a new chapter in this eclectic environment. Influences that have become a source of inspiration for her work. Havens-Morris has nurtured her passion for art throughout her life. Her current series explores the impact of vivid color or scale, both creating impactful visual statements utilizing materials like shaker cans and oil sticks that offer spontaneity and are sometimes unpredictable. These two ways offer a visual with purposeful impact, a nod to imperfection, embracing imperfection and the physical characteristics of the medium. This focus allows her to delve into these elements' emotional and evocative power, inviting viewers to experience her work on a visceral level. Louisiana Contemporary 2022 --Ogden Museum of Southern Art, New Orleans Susan was honored that her work was selected for the Louisiana Contemporary 2022 exhibition at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art by esteemed Curator Valerie Cassel Oliver. From a pool of 1200 applicants, only 42 artists were chosen for this prestigious show. Adding to the distinction, the selected painting was acquired by a private collector in Dallas, who had generously loaned it back to the museum for the exhibition's duration.
