Picnic: Life Series 1 of 1 painting Painting

inspired by a retro picnic my family had growing up in the 60s and 70s. My mother and sister would spend all day preparing the various items, elaborate jello molds, deviled eggs, and potato salad. Then arrive at a park for the picnic to have to prepare more foods like corn and hotdogs on a mini charcoal grill. I wanted to capture bright colors in the various foods. The various textures that compose the food from shinny corn to lumpy deviled eggs. I hope the viewer is transported to their childhood by the food. I want them to remember family gatherings and the staple meals that they were growing up. Dad's figures gathered around a grill preparing meat. Moms laying out elaborately prepared platters. All happening while kids play in the grass.
