This painting explores the expressive potentials of line and space. The elements such as pure color and line possessed independent symbolic significance and subjective emotional meanings. The bonsai is one of the subjects I surround myself with in my everyday life.

About the Artist

Moses Young

Now based in Vancouver, Canada, I have previously studied, worked or lived in Hong Kong, Stuttgart, and Tokyo - cities whose cultural gravities have informed my sensibility.
My work has found its way into discerning private collections across the globe. Over more than three decades devoted to oil and ink, I have cultivated a distinctly personal language: one that privileges nuance, restraint, and a certain quiet intensity. My practice extends across a range of surfaces, from traditional canvas to wood panel. Each of my painting is executed with deliberate intent rather than convenience.
Throughout the years, I have refined both composition and technique to a level that allows for fluid movement between the rigour of representation and the ambiguity of abstraction. Whether approaching landscape, portraiture, or still life, my preoccupation remains constant: the orchestration of light, the discipline of form, and the subtle manipulation of perspective. Technical mastery, for me, is a given; the true aim lies in distilling a work that carries both presence and conviction.
