Small abstract artwork on primed wood panel - in cheerful bright tones of pink. Inspired by LGBTQ parade in New York City. 2.5 " thick sides are finished with liquid gold paint: when hit with light they cast beautiful gold shadows on the wall.

I was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Russia, my mother is renowned impressionistic painter of cityscapes. I spent a lot of time in her studio growing up, helping her with priming the canvases and paint mixing at first and later – making underpaintings for her work. I always gravitated towards graphic type of art, but painting always reminded me of my mother’s studio and my first connection with the artworld I made there. I have received a BA degree in graphic arts and later a PhD in communications studies. My entire life, I have been making my living by creating visual stories for brands and personalities. But I have never stopped painting and curated a number of art shows in Russia and USA. Fine art has always been a source of inspiration and an unrestricted outlet for creative experimentation. My curiosity for exploring different artistic styles and mediums eventually brought me to early Christian art – icons and frescoes with elements of gilding. I use watercolors and different mixtures of stucco and gesso to imitate that matte effect of a fresco painting and finish my artwork with goldleaf, often gilding the sides of wood panels to give painting a glowing halo effect – goldleaf reflects on the walls when painting is hung. My work style is best described as temporal psychoexpressionism, I capture the remnants of the fleeting feelings one has in evocative places. I live close to New York City, and my most recent work is inspired by its vibes. I explore and record the intersections of tradition and innovation by applying traditional mediums to modern abstract visual concepts. My art merges past, present, and future in one moment in an attempt to capture the feeling of absolute timelessness. I find that megalopolises such as New York invert, twist, grind and mix eras of time together like layers of paint to produce unexpected results. Ultimately my art aims to encourage the viewer to experience every moment of their life with full awareness, as everything surrounding us is only temporary.
