ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Original artwork from the "Please Press Pause" Exhibition, designed to give the viewer pause and identify what they wish they could hit the pause button on in their own life. The work itself serves as a daily reminder to be present and view life from a lens of gratitude. On the back of the piece is a time capsule for the owner to memorialize their thoughts. *Each artwork is then named for its month/day/year of purchase, forever pausing in time that date for the owner. This diptych consists of two 8" x 24" assemblages of ink painted strips of yupo paper on cradled birch panels.

Julie Pelaez combines her conceptual Advertising background with a variety of mixed media to create feel-good abstract artworks centered on themes of human connection and empowerment. Her practice includes exhibitions, commissions, wallpaper design, corporate installations with Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, United Heritage Credit Union, and Kendra Scott, as well as print collaborations with national retailers such as Wexel Art, Four Hands Art Studio, Perigold and HomeGoods. She spent a decade as an Advertising Art Director in her first career, followed by a break for motherhood before becoming a full-time artist in 2017. Julie passionately soaks up life and squeezes out color from her home studio in Austin where she lives with her husband and 2 sons.
