GENIUS LOCI This exhibit’s goal is a challenge. A challenge to better understand and describe the times we are living while taking a risk in trying to predict the times that while come. Starting from the ability of human beings to operate, understand and connect. We are living in a new revolution that passes daily through the “NET”, or as we are all used to calling it, “INTERNET”, and it’s through this virtual space that we prepare the future for the next generations. Today we depend on interfaces and algorithms in order to communicate, be informed, have personal and commercial relations. Is this really the right direction? We create wealth in a parallel dimension and we depend on the most radical solutions that this dimension offers us. But do we create the right contents for it? Are we able to really use it for the right potentials? The task that we have today as individuals is to stimulate a profound, critical reflection on our current visible and “invisible” interactions, both individually and socially. We move around in a digital environment continuously trying to connect it to reality, but in which way? In this case, the path will rely on art, that creative art that is unique of the human mind, but most of all a necessary element in order to have a more complete and connected vision of the environment that surrounds us. The history and historical findings that have brought to the understanding of the place, cradle of the primitive barese civilization, through art, will be able to use a digital language and a virtual environment as another means of expression. So as time passes distinctively forward, we look at the past, correlated to the present and that looks towards the future. This is the real revolution: cancelling limits and connecting, through continuous arrays in the history of the territory (cult figures), in art (mother nature) and in everything that we can develop, through the use of the means that we now have, that will bring wellness to everyone and thus bring an evolutionary growth of the territory. In this way in the hope of finding a new language that can be used as a bridge, that connects the past, present and future and that places art and creativity as a possible powerful and possibilistic means for exploring and connecting what is yet to come.
