Painting, Oil on Wood
Size: 63 W x 63 H x 0.3 D in
The polyptych of the hypocrisies is inspired by the façàde of a church in Ascoli Piceno, called the "Bible of the poor" because it was once completely frescoed with the stories of the Saints. It is is an oil on poplar wood, and consists in 12 panels 40x40 cm, plus a lunette 80x40 cm. The artwork offers an experience of augmented reality through the Artivive application: each panel of the painting will reveal its hidden symbologies. You can also experience the augmented reality also in front of the monitor of your computer. Try it! According to my needs, Artivive has programmed the application to adapt to the language of the smartphones: currently it is available in French, Italian and, for any other language, English. In each scene there is a Lauretan tattoo, because in ancient times the pilgrims who visited the holy house of Loreto got tattoos of Christian symbols as a sign of devotion. Every tattoo, symbol and geometric shape is linked to a tarot card.

I was born and I live in Macerata, a medieval town in Italy. I started to love art after a trip to Holland, where I was overwhelmed by Rembrandt’s mysterious modulations of light. Then, I have been studying the references of the Dutch Master, up to the analysis of the creative processes of the Renaissance artists, even through studies on the various restoration by museums and retrieving information on several lost masterpieces. Going on with my research, as a self-taught painter I started using formulations of oil colors and supports compatible with those of the “old masters” in order to get a better duration reliability and thinking of their ability to communicate intense emotions. As a result, current issues such as feminicide and racism, or some classic themes like the initiation to Alchemy have been dealt in a contemporary reworking of techniques, styles and iconography of the past, creating in the studio my own compositions in which references to space and time are reduced to essential. I would like to stimulate the public to reflect on the surrounding reality, also through provocations, urging them to observe my artworks with greater attention, and challenging people to discover their several meanings. | Selected Public Collections Italy: S.
