Poppy Fields is the 7th painting in my on-going series “Life in Colour”. This series was inspired David Attenborough’s show “Life in Colour”. The fact that many living beings exist and co-exist in a particular habitat or environment is a miracle on it’s own. In this series I wish to depict the vast floral landscapes, the intricate patterns on the flowers, the life that is frolicking in the deep ocean, birds that soar in the sky and dance on land, the pollinators and the bugs, animals in the deep forests all in their natural habitat. Although in this series I use different mediums for different subjects, the poppy fields was created using oils. I paint in impressionistic style using the impasto technique and I believe this has helped me bring out the vibrance and beauty of the flowers and their environment. This painting is my imagination baby. I look forward to visit and view these beautiful red poppies in person one day. That’s the feeling I had when I painted. It brought me so much joy and hope. Do you know that the poppy is a symbol of remembrance and hope, including hope for a positive future. Well no wonder it gave me so much hope while painting it. I want my viewers to have the same feeling. I want them to be able to enjoy the painting and feel the sense of positivity and hope that all the obstacles in life teach us some lessons and that we can be hopeful of a better future. The painting in created using Artist quality oil paints which are archival on a 24” x 36” back stapled canvas with 0.75” depth and the painting continues on all the four sides. It therefore doesn’t require a frame , but left to the buyer’s choice to add the frame later. It is ready to hang and enjoy.
