Kokedama is a style of Japanese bonsai where the plant becomes a sculptural art form. It embraces the principles of wabi-sabi which is a contradiction into itself. The focus is on the simplicity of the object but highlights the intricacies of the subject. It can be cold and minimalistic but can also exude warmth and earthiness. Watercolor can encapsulate the same qualities and this is what has captivated my love for the medium for decades.
