ABOUT THE ARTWORK
To me, Prague is a very magical city, with winding narrow streets, red rooftops, Baroque and Gothic Cathedrals. The city of 100 spires. I grew up in Ireland and worked throughout the world - but after working in Kosovo in 2000, I visited the city in early 2001 and I still live in Czech today. Although I paint with acrylics my style is very traditional. I build up many thin layers of paint or glazes to produce the final work. This gives a soft, hopefully atmospheric feel. In my paintings the light is reflected through the layers of glaze. It is early morning. A time for quiet contemplation. For us, and the cats and a friendly gargoyle!

I was born in Sligo, Ireland in 1967. I now live with my family in South Bohemia, Czech but I also return regularly to Sligo to be with my father and to enjoy the Atlantic coastline. I paint in both locations. I have worked in over 30 countries overseas mostly in challenging emergency and humanitarian environments. I have had discs removed in my neck and lower back and due to nerve issues I must now paint with my right wrist and arm in a fixed brace. But painting is my physical and mental therapy and it gives me much joy to share my art with you.
