Prison Painting

Sometimes a subject matter spins a life of its own. After completed Traped/困 and Imprisonment/囚, it seems logical to end the series in the traditional style of "Say No Evil, See No Evil and Hear No Evil" - the big red star version which result to a 180 degrees change of point of view. Instead of being a straight protest piece, now we are at the other side looking back. A portrait of unmistakable Chen GuangCheng with his signature sunglasses made up entirely of 2 Chinese characters 囹圄 means "prison" in an ancient Chinese term. A big red star splits into left and right plastered over both ears. Characters written in Chinese Ink, grey Pastel background creates a white silhouette of cell bars. Ultra thick red acrylic as the star.
