These changes are usually hidden beneath a subsequent paint layer. In some instances they become visible because the paint layer above has become transparent with time." - www.nationalgallery.org.uk/paintings/glossary My Prosumer paintings are inspired by the juxtaposition of the formalism of the practical design aesthetics of product packaging to contrast with the spontaneity of random expressionism. To wit, I stencil commercial container developments over layers of stains and drawings on canvas. The Pentimento series are a variant of this process; I re-use old paintings and prints; sometimes mine, sometimes others, or commercial canvas prints, even wallpaper. In the measure, I may well yet become a true penitent.
