Acrylic painting , Original Artwork of “ Proteas in a vase -still life “by Moira Briel This still life painting was painted with a acrylic pallet on a stretched canvas 50cm x 60cm with a depth of 1.50cm on a acrylic canvas and a protective coat of (gloss) varnish has been applied to seal the acrylic paints and ensure the work stays looking its best for a life time Proteas are woody evergreen perennials with gorgeous, unusual- looking blooms from Autumn into Spring. These hardy shrubs attract birds to the garden with their large flowers in dusty pink and red tones, plus colourful foliage. I love proteas as they last so long in a vase and they keep their colours well, always looking bright and colourful . I did them in dark and pale pink and the leaves in orange and red followed by a dark green background which makes them pop. A very colourful still life with vibrancy and also pleasing to the eye Specifications Title ; Proteas in a vase - still life Media: Acrylic Style: abstract Material: Stretched Canvas Authenticity: Signed on front and back of originals and a letter of authenticity provided Packaging: Shipped in a cardboard box ready to hang but can be rolled in a tube of fibreboard if preferred Please note that 'in situ' images and any framing depicted is for illustrative sizing purposes and may not be to scale.

I am an Australian based wildlife artist with 30 years of experience. I was born in Zimbabwe and started my art career by studying under professional wildlife artists such as wildlife artist Francis Stoki in Zimbabwe and Donald Waters in Queensland Australia. I worked for a taxidermy in Zimbabwe for two years painting wildlife on a large scale for export overseas. One of my paintings sold to the governor of Beirut and the other to the vice president of Zimbabwe at the time. I left Zimbabwe 17 years ago and now reside in Perth Western Australia. After retiring I finally have the opportunity to paint full time in my studio, something I always wanted to do. I enjoy painting wildlife the most coming from Africa I find nothing better than capturing the beauty of wild animals in their natural habitat. I paint in acrylics mostly but have done charcoal drawings and soft pastel drawing as well and a bit of water colour and graphic pencils. I have worked in oils before but find acrylics dry a lot faster. I paint realism mostly but of late have switched to a bit of abstract painting which is fun bringing out the stories it tells. I have also done underwater scenes where I can follow the swirls and patterns of the water creating movement and patterns which are pleasing to the eye. I paint flowers, animals, underwater scenes, abstract, realism, still life, marine life, beach life, sea scapes, birds and more so keep an eye open for something different as i intend to give you just that
