I was selected to be an Artist-in-Residence at Weir Farm National Historic Site, one of our only U.S. National Parks dedicated to ART! I decided to create a body of work based on the flowers that grow on-site. This purple bearded iris grows in the Sunken Garden at Weir Farm, the historic home of American impressionist painter, J. Alden Weir. His wife planted the beautiful gardens, which have been lovingly restored for the public to enjoy. I would like viewers to be able to "get inside" the topography of this flower, and to appreciate the organic curls, bumps and movement in its dynamic terrain. Please note, I've included spontaneous drips of paint, which validate and celebrate the process of painting. Several of my Flowerscape paintings are in the permanent collection of Yale New Haven Hospital. This painting is on heavy duty 2.5" stretchers, and the image continues on all 4 sides. Therefore, the painting may be framed or can be left unframed.

I was born in New York and live in Riverdale, NY. I have worked for many years as a free-lance calligrapher for individuals, corporations and party planners. My paintings often reflect my interest in calligraphy, showing gestural brushstrokes and broad movement. As an undergraduate of Queens College of The City University of N.Y., I received a strong foundational painting and drawing background, for which I am grateful each day. I had the honor of studying with Herb Aach, Robert Birmelin, Harold Bruder and John Ferren, all highly accomplished painters. I completed my Master of Science degree in Art Education at Southern CT State University, earning a 4.0 GPA, and I successfully taught art to children, grades 1-6 in an independent school for eight years. I continue to teach children and adults painting and drawing in my own studio, where I feel fortunate to have a large following. My representational still life and flower paintings are executed in acrylics and depict my interest in color, design and movement. My paintings explore the relationships between two-dimensional patterns and three-dimensional forms. My style is painterly and expressive, and I have been described as "a painters’ painter." I have been selected as a member of National Women Artists and New Haven Paint & Clay Club, and my paintings are included in numerous public and private collections.
