ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This is one of the paintings from "Rückkehr" a body of work shown in autumn 2017 in Vienna at Galerie Herminengasse1 in Vienna. After coming back from my residency in Shanghai, which focused on chinese history and culture, it made sense to continue working with the themes of war and destruction with an austrian focus. All paintings are based upon old and sometimes found photographs of WW2, leaving the decoding of the image to the viewer. Who are the people on the painting, are they hunting or being hunt etc.
