What are impossible objects? 3-dimensional and possible to draw according to the rules of perspective at first glance, in fact they could not exist in real life. In my project I attempt to interpret this concept. The objects are a sort of a shortcut, and it seems they remind us of everyday objects; strangely modified, however, in reality it would not be possible to construct them. They are far from Optical Art and they do not play by the rules: these compositions of form, digits and lines, playfully balancing on a big surface of colour, puzzle the eye with the impossible. The division of colour into light cream, almost translucent canvas and heavy, thick dark blues and blacks, is also a symbolic representation of day and night - time as a cycle. This gives us an illusion of two-dimensionality and time continuum: an equation that determines our 3-dimensional perception. The paintings are like puzzle pieces: you can move them around and they always remain a coherent part of a whole that may not be very logical, but is certainly not chaotic. Every vertical line has a corresponding horizontal like, and every tiny spot has its aim and purpose, no matter how accidental it seems - just like every grain of sand on our planet. It is unusual to use symbolism in abstract art. In this artful and intuitive, non-verbal way of putting thoughts together, I was hoping to be able to present my way of defining space-time and establishing a dialogue with the beholder- without the need for computer waterworks, in a primal and organic way.

Born in 1976 in Gdansk Poland, painter. I strive to transfer fascination of the primitive and of the mystery of mysticism in my work. I like to put together the unspoken with the strength of pictogram, therefore paintings gained some duality: they contain spaciousness and depth alongside flat, purposely unfinished forms of shellfish and fossils. Strong red accents break the brown, green and everything enveloping black. This is a story about the mystery of existence. Story about the road we travel, certain stages when we look for guidance and clues, signs that we intuitively follow – especially in times of change and inner transformation.
