Painting is for me an expression of how I feel; to express my inner poetry ... I really like the fun and playful process that painting brings. I like playing with composition or attitude, finding balance in contrasts, deconstructing the subject, personalizing it. I literally sculpts my model with color and shapes. I try to avoid any excessive intellectualization of my works, so that my subconscious can guide the brush until beauty emerges. I am always looking for new subjects, different techniques. I particularly like collages and water techniques that allow beautiful transparencies and keep the brightness of the support, that I like to put in opposition with flat enough dense and frank. My portraits are colorful, bright and powerful; I wish that they are sources of emotions and vibrations. "Raïssa" is related to the power of Earth.

I would describe my paintings as "pop expressionist". Painting is for me an expression of what I feel; it is to express my own poetry, my vision of the world… In fact, I paint interior experiences, I express my need to sublimate things. My portraits are generous, luminous and powerful. I want them to be source of emotions and vibrations. Painting is for me, a constant staging. Through the page, the composition, the arrangement of lines, colors, rhythms, I play until I obtain a convincing and coherent result, sometimes surprising. Thanks to acrylic, which allows quick superpositions, it becomes a very playful process and I like to let myself be surprised by what comes or small uncontrolled accidents. Besides, when I embark on a canvas, I don't always premeditate where the painting will take me... it's an uncertain path, a leap into the void, an experimental adventure. I do have a certain starting idea but I let "chance" surprise me, everything does not rest exclusively on my perseverance or my technique. The end result is always something I could never anticipate, and something beyond my absolute control. My work is quick and spontaneous because I find it interesting to show the gesture, the physicality of the process, beyond the subject, and that creates a certain tension. I am influenced by a wide range of sectors of modern society. The role of identity and gender, especially women in contemporary culture, eternal youth.
